10 Fun Ways Kids Can Make a Difference
We love our volunteers and especially love to see kids stepping up to help other kids! We welcome youth ages 13 and up to volunteer alongside an adult (21+) with a signed parental consent waiver at our Roswell, GA Distribution Facility. Even if they aren't old enough to volunteer at the Distribution Center, kids of all ages can still make a big difference in supporting the Foster Care Support Foundation and the displaced children in our community! Here are some creative ways they can help:
1. Host a Drive for New Items
Kids displaced into foster and relative care are just like you—they love getting new toys and clothing too! You can make a difference by hosting a NEW ITEM drive with your friends, family, or school. To find out what items are most needed, contact us at vol@fostercares.org. Together, you can help make sure every child has something special to brighten their day!
2. Fundraising Events
Children can plan small fundraising events such as bake sales, lemonade stands, car washes, or garage sales. The money raised can be donated to the foundation to support its programs.
3. Birthday Donations
Instead of receiving birthday presents, kids can ask their friends and family to donate items or money to the Foster Care Support Foundation.
4. Doll~Lego~Sports Ball Project
Gather your friends and work together to collect new or like-new dolls, Lego kits, or Sports Balls to bring joy to displaced children! Lego people are especially in demand, and your donations will help ensure that every child has a special toy to call their own. This is a fun and meaningful way for kids to make a difference together, providing toys to children who need them most. Start collecting today and spread the joy!
5. Social Media Awareness
Older kids who use social media can help by spreading awareness about the foundation's mission and needs, encouraging others to donate or get involved.
6. Organize a Walk/Run
Kids can team up with friends to organize a small walk or run in their community, with participants donating a small entry fee to the foundation.
7. Classroom/Troop Project
Students can work with their classmates/Troopmates and teacher to create a group project that supports the foundation, such as a group donation, educational posters, or a letter-writing campaign to raise awareness.
8. Make Dental Hygene Kits
Kids can assemble small kits with items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, etc. to distribute to children entering displaced care.
9. Be a Wish Granter
In October-November, Kids can sign up alongside their family to sponsor a displaced child’s Wish List for the Grands Raising Grands Holiday Wish program. By providing holiday gifts, they can bring joy and warmth to a child during the festive season. Subscribe to our Holiday Wish Granter email list to be the first to know when registration for this event opens.
10. Spread the Word
Simply talking to friends and family about the Foster Care Support Foundation and encouraging others to get involved can help raise awareness and support.
